Rachel Liebman, Ph.D. received her PhD from the University of Rochester and is licensed in the state of Massachusetts. She works with adolescents, adults and couples and has expertise in neuropsychological assessment as well as individual and group evidence-based treatments for trauma, dissociation, eating disorders, self harm/suicidality and substance use. Her specialty is the treatment of trauma-related risk behaviours and she has training in evidence based practices such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Eating Disorders, Family-Based Therapy for Anorexia (FBT), Conjoint Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBCT). Her treatment is integrative and incorporates cognitive behavioural, emotion-focused and psychodynamic elements into a comprehensive and client-centered formulation. She provides treatment for relationship problems, gender and sexuality concerns, and major life transitions. Dr. Liebman completed her predoctoral internship at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, and later held a position there as a staff psychologist in the Eating Disorder Clinical and Research Program. Dr. Liebman is also an adjunct professor at Toronto Metropolitan University where her research focuses on mechanisms comorbidity between trauma and risk taking behaviors, treatment development for comorbid trauma-based conditions, and the dissemination and implementation of evidence based trauma-informed treatments. She trains and consults in the area of trauma-informed care and delivery of trauma-focused treatments throughout the US and Canada. Dr. Liebman is a member of the Canadian and American Psychological Associations, The Ontario Psychological Association, and the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies.
